Parental Control App - OurPact App Reviews

Works great. Happy

I got to give my kids time on using their ipad and we got to play. Parents should know abt this app

Very Practical

Our childrens cooperation was good to begin with and with the use of this app, it went through the roof :). The only reason I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars, is lack of paid for version which would allow us more granular app control. Other than that, this is an Awesome app - something that I highly will recommend to any parent interested in implementing a more structured use of electronics. Great job guys!

Awesome

No more sneaking iPads at night. This is seriously a great app. I cant believe its free. My 9 year old said,"Im going to take it off my iPad." I told him that if he could, it could stay off. 30 minutes later he came in very upset because low and behold he couldnt get the app off. Im not religious at all, but to the makers of this app I say, "praise Jesus," and thank you!

The best app

I love IT

Its simple and perfect

This app did exactly what I wanted it to do and it was super simple to configure. Let me explain what I was looking for, and maybe its similar to your needs? Basically, my wife and I wanted to restrict access to all but the basic functionality of the iPod on a schedule. Basic functionality means that our son is able to text us if he arrives at home an hour before we are home from work. But, we do not want him playing games for that hour when he should be getting started on his homework. We permit our son to play games on this schedule: Mon-Thur / no games Fri / 5pm-9pm Sat-Sun / 10am-9pm With this app we were able to set up this exact schedule. If theres some special exception to the rule, both me and my wife have the app on our phone that permits us to grant/deny access either unlimited of for a set time - say 1 hour. The process for set up is maybe not as clear as it should be and I recommend that the OurPact people make this clearer. This is how I got setup: 1. Go to the OurPact website: OurPact.com 2. Sign up for an account using your email - not your childs! 3. After login, youll be presented with a pop-up that seems to want to help you get setup, but I recommend that you disregard it (OurPact people, you need to make that initial modal screen more useful). Its just an overview and it does not get you set up. Instead, create a child account by clicking the plus menu in the upper left of the screen. This will prompt you to pair the website with your childs device. Grab your childs device and follow the instructions in the popup. 4. After your childs device is paired, you may want to enable restrictions on the device so that your child cannot delete the installed app. Make sure you set a restrictions passcode that is not the same as your childs passcode. 5. Go back to the website and toggle the "grant" and "block" buttons. When you do this, you should see the apps appearing and disappearing from your childs phone in real-time. 6. Set up schedules for each specific day or day range. Make sure the green toggle to the right of each schedule is enabled. When youre done, make sure to click the "schedule" button above the grant and access buttons to make it the current state of the device. 7. Download the app on your phone and youll be able to manage the same features on the fly! A couple notes for OurPact developers: The app that allows the icon arrangement is not available. Every time I try to download it, it fails. This is not a huge deal because my son does not have a ton of apps. But you need to fix. Your website could do a way better job of walking new users through the setup process. That initial modal is not cutting it. Try to think like someone who has no clue about your app - which is everyone but you. But overall, well done!!!

Pretty good

Weve had this app for just one day and here is what I see 1. My BIGGEST complaint is this. My 9yo daughter had all her meticulously arranged. When we tested the block and then granted access back everything was completely out of order. She was in tears. 2. Need the ability to pick and chose apps. There are times when educational/bible apps could stay open but all gaming apps need to be closed. Other then that is basically does what it says. Completely shuts down their device.

Happy but want more control

Love the ability to control what my child can do but I want more. I want to be able to limit use of data through Safari & texting times. Ive scheduled lockout during school hours but my child can still text & surf the net through safari (using data!) please figure out a way to limit these as well Im still loving this app because it takes all distractions away.

Heyy

Very good for the family for control kids

Love it!

Used it for both my kids and worked great! Love how it allows me to be in charge of device time anywhere. Thanks, we love it!

The final word

This is a great app. I get the final word when it comes to the iPad use in the house. The scheduled lock downs are great. If the kids finish early they have to ask permission to get on. Its been a great tool to get them to go out and play rather than stuck to a screen all day.

Love this

Absolutely love this app. And would recommend it and have recommended it to several friends. It does exactly what I need it to and I am able to block my kids from their iPads and phones. It does not keep your apps in the folder or where you put them but they have gotten use to it now.

Lifesaver

I saw Jamie Oliver talk about this app on his FB page and thought Id try it out - totally changed meal times in my house, no more disengaged children ignoring me when I ask about their day at school. Easy to block (and unblock when they earned a reward) at the push of a button on my phone. Wish Id found it sooner!

Great tool for monitoring kids time

Love that I can shut my kids iPads apps down if they dont turn them off when asked to. Also love that I can schedule their iPad usage times. Love this app. Kids are still trying to figure out how I do it.

Great!

This app is wonderful. And if you read everything it does tell you things disappear, they are just in hibernation, they will return!! And it also explains how to avoid your apps from being rearranged. You just have to read people. Love love it!!!

Does what it says

Shuts down my kids apps at the touch of a button from my phone. Still allows the basic phone functions so from a safety standpoint, even if Ive shut off their apps, phone and text still works. Make sure to download the recommended app to your kids phones so that their apps are still in the right place when you turn them back on.

Wonderful App. I love it.

It allows me to block my kids phone and iPad automatically at the schedule times. I love it my kids say "mom all my apps are gone". Lol. I say did you finish your chores. You should see how fast they get to work to get their work done. Lol I love. Only thing. I wish I could pick the apps to keep on because I would like to sometime block all apps except learning apps or my room monitor app I use when my 7 yr old goes to bed. Overall this app is great.

Great app!

I love it.....my kid, not so much. Easy to use & well thought out. Initial pairing of devices was a bit tricky, but after that it was smooth sailing. Love that you can have several "schedules" for different days of the week. If you are a parent that has a kid addicted to the Internet, this is the app for you.

The beauty is in its simplicity

Love this app. I love that its free. I love that its effective. I love that its simple to use.

Effective parenting help

Very thankful for this app! Ability to set device bedtime remotely and turn off apps remotely is wonderful for parents!

Awesome

This app has been a huge godsend for our family. No more give me your phone at night or get off your phone. I can set up schedules for access and grant or deny access at any time. School should have parents use this- so no unwanted use during the school day. Well they can still text and call- which to me is a good safety feature.
